The Maine scallop fishery is riding a wave of recovery, thanks to the efforts of many all along the coast. In 1997, fishermen from Cobscook Bay began to work for conservation rules to protect the Cobscook fishery, including smaller fishing gear, a daily catch limit, and a meat count to protect small scallops. Statewide, they worked to establish scallop fishing zones, where fishermen could take greater responsibility for the scallops in their own backyards. Maine scallopers have invested in a long term sustainable fishery for themselves and their grandchildren.
The cold pristine waters of Cobscook Bay are the most productive scallop grounds in Maine. Cobscook Kitchen & Marketplace and local fishermen bring these dayboat scallops to you individually flash frozen right off the boat, vacuum packed at our new facility to preserve appearance, texture, and taste, and available year round.
